Politics this week has its attention towards the legal unwinding of Cristiane Brasil (PTB/RJ) nomination to Minister of Labor position. She is hindered because her nomination contradicts the principle of morality regarding public administration. The decision on the appeals of Cristiane Brasil defense itself and of the General Union Advocacy (AGU) are expected to be made later this week.

According to backstage information, the Planalto still does not have names for a possible substitute for Brasil’s name. PTB is categorical about the Minister indication. Recalling that the party belongs to a parliamentary coalition that brings together PROS, PSL and PRP parties. It is important to Temer to keep them together and alongside the base to secure votes to the Pension Reform, which is the government’s main proposal for the year.

It should also be noticed that there are no listed names for the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC), however, due to the good work of former Minister, Marcos Pereira, indication of the PRB, it is expected that the new name will remain in charge of the party.

Regarding the Pension Reform, the negotiations do not stop. While some continue articulating between parliamentarians, the president of the Chamber, Deputy Rodrigo Maia (DEM/RJ), has already stated that he will meet with State governors to canvass favorable votes to the Reform. He believes that the worsening of state’s public accounts can make it easier to get the necessary votes. Another argument that will be used to defend the reform is the downgrade of Brazil’s investment note.
